A LITTLE PEEK INTO THE PERSONAL
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS:
Pizza. Cheese. A lovely glass of vino or the occasional margarita (mango, thank you very much). Books. A walk on the beach. Bike rides. A good pair of jeans. My 21-year-old Furman University Alumni sweatshirt. Popcorn. Engaging conversation. Paper Mate Ink Joy pens (medium point gel, in case you’re curious). Sticky notes. Office supplies, in general.
MY NORTH STAR VALUES:
Authenticity | Courage | Generosity
MY AUTHENTICITY MANTRA:
Stay present. Don’t panic. Let yourself be seen.
Wholehearted living is about engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness. It means cultivating the courage, compassion, and connection to wake up in the morning and think, No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough. It’s going to bed at night thinking, Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn’t change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging. ~ Brené Brown
James Taylor, Indigo Girls, Sufjan Stevens, Alison Krauss, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Swim, Vince Guaraldi (just to name a few)
FAVORITE AUTHORS AND BOOKS:
Umm. That's a little like asking a parent to name their favorite child. BUT, here are some I'm reading or have read this year: • Still Writing, Dani Shapiro • Building a Storybrand, Donald Miller • Learning to Walk in the Dark, Barbara Brown Taylor • Inspired, Rachel Held Evans • Of Mess and Moxie, Jen Hatmaker • Devotion, Dani Shapiro • I'm Still Here, Austin Channing Brown • For the Love, Jen Hatmaker • Still, Lauren Winner • The Art of Memoir, Mary Karr • Simplicity, Richard Rohr • (there are sooooo many more books!!!!)
I also love audio books for long drives or boring afternoons. Books I have found incredibly powerful hearing from the authors: What I Know for Sure, Oprah Winfrey • Becoming Wise, Krista Tippett • Everything Happens for a Reason (and other lies I've loved), Kate Bowler • Love Does, Bob Goff • Speaking of Faith, Krista Tippett • Everybody Always, Bob Goff • Braving the Wilderness, Brené Brown • (again, there are sooooo many books! I'll admit to only buying audio books that are narrated by the author. Call me a snob if you will...)
